Zero Fatalities and University of Utah Kick Off ‘You Drive. I’ll Text’ Campaign with Giant iPhone

Students share safety messages with students through 8-foot-tall phone

WHAT: Zero FatalitiesandUniversity of Utah’s AdThing—a student-led advertising agency—will kick off “You drive. I’ll text,” a new campaign targeting distracted driving. To launch the campaign, University President Ruth Watkins and Student Body President Anna Barnes will address why safety is a priority and explain measures the University is taking to ensure student safety. The campaign encourages students to be active and attentive passengers by speaking up whenever they notice their drivers are distracted. The “You drive. I’ll text” initiative targets all kinds of phone-related distractions (e. g. texting, changing songs, checking social media, etc.).

WHEN:  Thursday, Oct. 17,10 a.m. 

WHERE: South walkway of the Union Plaza, University of Utah Student Union Building, 200 Central Campus Drive.  For parking, go to the paid lot east of the Student Union Building and use code: 75FORT.
