UDOT to Close Section of Eastbound I-80 in Tooele County Overnight
Drivers will be detoured onto S.R. 201 while crews complete pavement repairs Friday night
SALT LAKE CITY (Jan. 24, 2019) – The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises drivers to plan ahead for an overnight closure on eastbound I-80 in Tooele County. Eastbound I-80 will close at the S.R. 201 interchange (Exit 102) from Friday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. to Saturday, Jan. 26, at noon while crews complete pavement repairs on the bridge over the Union Pacific railroad tracks.
During this closure, all eastbound drivers will be detoured onto S.R. 201, then to S.R. 202 and back to eastbound I-80. UDOT recommends planning ahead for heavier than normal traffic and delays due to this closure and allow extra time to travel the detour route.
This overnight closure is necessary to allow crews to repair the pavement with new concrete and provide it ample time to cure, ensuring the repair holds up to the heavy traffic, especially trucks, that travel this section of I-80.
Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. For the latest information on traffic restrictions during construction, visit the UDOT Traffic website (udottraffic.utah.gov) or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android. Drivers can also follow UDOT on social media including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
