Roadwork Set to Begin on I-215 at 2100 North, Redwood Road Interchange

Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) planned Redwood Road interchange in North Salt Lake

OGDEN – A major project is getting underway that will alter lanes on northbound Interstate 215, and dramatically reconfigure the Redwood Road Interchange with I-215 in North Salt Lake, beginning February 22.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will begin construction on I-215 at 2100 North, followed by work on a new interchange configuration at I-215 and Redwood Road (state Road 68) in North Salt Lake as early as February 22.  These improvements include the construction of a new Diverging Diamond interchange, and pavement rehabilitation on I-215 and on Redwood Road (SR-68).

According to UDOT Project Manager Brett Slater, the Redwood Road interchange in North Salt Lake is heavily traveled by large trucks, commuters and area residents.  He said this project will alleviate this congestion and improve operations for years to come.

However, while construction is underway motorists can expect severe congestion, particularly at the Redwood Road Interchange, he said.

During construction travel lanes will narrow, lanes will shift, and congestion will increase.  Drivers are advised that significant backing is expected on northbound I-215 from 2100 North through the Redwood Road interchange. Redwood Road will also be under construction from I-215 to Center Street in North Salt Lake.

While semi-truck traffic is prohibited on the Legacy Parkway (SR-67), other traffic is encouraged to use it as an alternate route. Other alternates include I-15 to 500 South in Bountiful, I-80 to I-15, or continue on I-215 to I-15. Motorists are also reminded to slow down in the construction zone. It’s required by law and helps save lives, especially for the construction workers on the project.

The public can contact the project team with any questions or concerns about this construction by calling the hotline at 800-292-3557, or by emailing “”
