New ‘HAWK’ Signal to be Activated in Syracuse This Friday, August 18
New crosswalk signal will provide improved safety for pedestrians on 2000 West

Ogden – The Utah Department of Transportation advises motorists that a new crosswalk signal will be
activated on 2000 West (SR-108) at Syracuse Elementary and Syracuse Junior High School’s on Friday, August
18.

Work is completed on the installation of the High-Intensity Activated crossWalK (HAWK) beacon on 2000 West
in Syracuse. The new pedestrian-activated signal will have the power connected to it by electrical utility and
UDOT personnel during the day on Friday. It is being installed as part of UDOT’s SR-108/2000 West
Reconstruction Project between Antelope Drive and 300 North in Syracuse/West Point.

The new HAWK signal will improve safety for students accessing Syracuse Elementary School and Syracuse
Junior High School, as well as other pedestrians and bikers who frequent this area. One of several
informational videos available on YouTube showing how these signals work, is found at
